Emerald Ball

I had the opportunity to compete in the Emerald Ball a couple of weeks ago. It is one of the country's largest competitions and I did better than I expected! I was able to win 2 of my Silver Scholarships and I got second in my Open Gold category. I've never competed at that level before, so I was really excited. They made me slick my hair back (which I hate) but it seemed to do the trick. So fun.

My Baby is 5!

Rowan and his cousin Hallie were born on the samy day, 2 hours apart. We will often celebrate their birthdays together.It was really windy, but we had some awesome kite flying weather with Spiderman Vs. Barbie. Cupcakes hit the spot too. Next stop... Kindergarten!

Playing Dress Up

I've got to be honest. I love the dancing part of Ballroom Dancing, but the costumes and makeup are just as fun. This really suprises me because I have never considered myself a "girly girl". It's a crazy game because a genuine dress should run about $2000. This is where the creativity comes in. We stalk other girls to borrow their dresses, we buy cheap dresses on ebay and try to "stone" them up a little, we buy used dresses that don't fit and pay out the nose for alterations. Sigh. Call me if you need to know how to pronounce Swarovski.

Say Cheese...

Rowan is allergic to cameras. No matter how hard we try to pose him, he always end up boneless, looking off to the side, or pretending to be a super hero. How can this be? I came out of the womb ready for my close up! I was the kid in all of my friends birthday pictures hogging the attention while they are blowing out candles. We recently went to Utah for Rick's sister Chelseas' wedding. It was so much fun to see everyone and to celebrate with family. Maybe next time we should figure out what pose Rowan will be in and have us all copy him?
